A Métis Mother Daughter Duo

Meet Terri & Heather Murphy

"My people will sleep for 100 years, but when they awake, it will be the artists who give them their spirit back."

- Louis Riel

Terri and Heather Murphy's artistic collaboration is a testament to the enduring spirit of their people, weaving together generations of storytelling through visual art.

Originally from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, the duo are descendants of the Turners, Umpervilles, Thompsons and Campbells. Together, they create a powerful artistic dialogue that bridges past and present. Their annual plein air painting expeditions throughout Saskatchewan serve as a ritual of connection—to each other, to their art, and to the land that holds their history.

As best friends and artistic partners, Terri and Heather Murphy are not just creating art; they're fulfilling Riel's prophecy, awakening the spirit of their people through every canvas they touch.

Terri Murphy

Terri’s work explores Canadian landscape to celebrate a deep connection to historical roots. Each piece is a personal challenge to magnify something that identifies a sense of ‘home’ in this rugged land.

Heather Murphy

Heather’s work explores the strength and resilience of women with an appreciation of beauty where glamour and pain collide. She gives voice to untold stories through myth, ancestral stories, and the body as a landscape.
